At approximately 12:30 AM, Pitts was picked up at the Sixth District Station by the undersigned and conveyed to the Homicide Division Office. Pitts was questioned relative to his whereabouts on Friday, August 16th and 17th of 1963.
AT approximately 1:00 AM, this date, Earl Hart was again conveyed to this office and re-interview; however, nothing of further value could be obtained. A signed typewritten statement was again obtained from Hart. This statement was completed at 4:15 AM.
At about 7:00 AM, the undersigned visited the Sixth District Station where Hart was being kept in custody. Earl Hart was interviewed by the undersigned, and this time, he informed the undersigned that he recalled being in the company of one Wilson Pitts
At 2:45 AM, the undersigned took custody of Earl Hart from the Showup Room, and he agreed to help the undersigned locate a subject who was in his company the night of August 16, 1963 and the morning of August 17, 1963. This subject was know to Hart, only as Eddie.
At approximately 1:00 AM, the undersigned had Earl Hart brought to the Homicide Office from Showup, and he was interviewed relative to his activities on the dates of August 16th and August 17th, 1963, and he informed the undersigned that he had left his residence on the morning of Friday, August 16th and went to his place of employment,
One Eddie Sorrell, contacted this office about noon, this date, and spoke to Dets. Kent and Alexander informing them that he had heard the police wanted to speak to him. An appointment was made to meet Sorrell at 4:00 PM in Lewis’ Bar, 1113 St. Mary St.
Upon reporting for duty, the undersigned learned that some unknown subject had called this Department’s switchboard and informed the operators on duty that he wanted to tell the police who murdered the fellow in the park, that he was calling from the Half Moon.
At approximately 1:30 AM, August 19, 1963, the undersigned checked the outlet, Mary’s Tavern, located 1926 Magazine Street, spoke with various patrons and employees inquiring about the victim …
